How the EVOLUTION began

LAVA MUSIC was founded in 2013 by Louis Lu, Kayeung So and Shin Tang while attending the Musicians Institute Hollywood. The inspiration for the name ‘LAVA’ came from Louis' idea of continuous passion and love for music. Initially, the company focussed on selling instruments from other manufacturers and brands. However, Louis soon realised that many manufacturers were stagnating in the development of their guitars and relying on models that had remained unchanged for decades. Convinced that music makers were thirsty for innovation, he decided to design his own products with LAVA and shared his vision of expanding and perfecting human expression through music on a blog.

A new chapter in the company's history

The year 2015 marked a milestone for LAVA when the company launched its first own product, the LAVA GUITAR. Louis and his team started with the project of a unibody guitar, which later became the groundbreaking LAVA ME. Their aim was to create an instrument that would not only sound contemporary but also be aesthetically pleasing and fit seamlessly into modern life. To achieve this goal, the team began developing a new material in collaboration with KingFa Technologies. The result was ‘AirSonic’, an innovative carbon fibre composite material, das leicht, langlebig und akustisch leistungsstark war.

A milestone in the development of guitars

The launch of the original LAVA ME in 2017 at the ‘Music China’ international trade fair in Shanghai was a highlight for the company. The world's first one-piece, injection-moulded guitar was presented with numerous technological innovations, ranging from carbon fibre materials to unique acoustic structures. In the years that followed, LAVA continued its success story. The LAVA ME 2 became the best-selling carbon fibre guitar in the world in 2018, while Louis initiated another revolutionary project: the development of an acoustic-electric guitar with a multi-touch screen and its own operating system.

Connected to the world

The year 2021 marked another breakthrough for LAVA when the LAVA ME 3 was introduced. Not only was this guitar equipped with a multi-touch screen and operating system, it was also the first of its kind to enable internet connectivity. The introduction of the LAVA ME 4 continues the tradition of innovation at LAVA MUSIC. With a unique design, supported by state-of-the-art technology and high-quality materials, it redefines the standards for sound quality and playing comfort.
